Prom is coming up, and I bet all of you young ladies are trying to figure out what to do with your hair! Let me guarantee that you will not have to spend over $100 styling your hair because I'm going to tell you how to do it yourself. This style is classic and never goes out of season. It works best on hair of medium to long length, and of any type. You will need a few ponytail holders and lots of bobby pins.

Start simply, put your hair up into 2 ponytails, if your hair is very thick you may want to do 4 ponytails in a square on the back of your head. From there, start with 1 ponytail and divide it into half and half again so you end up with four equal sections (more if you have very thick hair). Keep each one separate by loosely tying a holder around each one, or simply throwing it over your head.

Take the strand in the middle of your head and make sure it has no tangles. Use caution with your brush, you don't want to accidentally mix up the strands. Wet your hands with water, or gel if you want to assure no flyaways. Run your hands along the length of the strand until it is wet enough to hold a shape.

Starting at the top, twist the strand to a tight spiral. Once you have 1.5-2 inches twisted hold it against your skull with one hand and pin it down with the other. If you have a difficult time getting the pin to stay, use a second and cross it over the first. So you will end up with two pins forming an X holding your hair in place.

Continue twisting and pinning every two inches or so until the strand is finished. Move on to the next strand in the same ponytail and do the same thing. It is best if you keep the new curls as close as possible to the originals to avoid any open space. When done with all the strands in the first ponytail, simply move on to the next and work your way from the center out.

Ten Must-Have wedding shots on your big day

You would think that this concept is quite simple and that photographers usually cover all the shots you would deem as necessary as representation of your big day. This is usually the case, but with the stress of the big day and all the chaos surrounding the photographer and you, it’s a good idea to have a list of Must-Have shots to be taken on your big day. You know... just in case!

Here are our top ten Must-Haves:

1. The Dress on its own
This is probably the most expensive piece of clothing you will ever wear. Ever. A good enough reason for this Must-Have! Over and above the fact that it's one of the most anticipated aspects of a wedding.

2. The bride walking down the aisle

The perfect wedding at Imperfect Perfection

Happy Friday! I came across this venue, Imperfect Perfection, fairly recently and I must say, it has become one of my top 5 Gauteng venues (along with Hazeldene Hall, Turbine Hall and The Rand Club - number 5 to make itself known next week, so watch this space). It’s perfect for a rustic inspired wedding and is awesome for photos. I just love the look of this place! Ofcourse the photographers at Blackframe Photography have a lot to do with why I love this place so much! Enjoy!

Hazeldene Hall

Hazeldene Hall is also one of my favourite venues in Gauteng. As their website says, it is an "example of classic colonial architecture". It is unlike anything in Jozi and offers the perfect background for vintage and whimsical or elegant and contemporary. I came across this wedding taken by Blackframe Photography and it just proves why this is a venue worth considering when it comes to your big day! Oh, and let’s not forget the awesome photographers! One of our favourites here at Teapots and Tulle too :)

Summer wedding at Toadbury Hall

To beat this winter chill we're currently experiencing in the Highveld, I found a wonderful Summer wedding taken by the fab Blackframe Photography at Toadbury Hall. The couples' laid back and fun personality just ooze out of these pics. This wedding had all the elements - beautiful hanging lanterns, a candy station and proper old fashioned confetti!
